Systemic Racism and the Public Service: Moving the Dial Forward (rebroadcast)

Description

Revisit this virtual town hall for all federal public service employees that took place against the backdrop of the increase in racially motivated incidents in Canada and the US, which have impacted Indigenous Peoples as well as Black, Asian, racialized and religious minority communities. These are peoples and communities which federal public servants are part of and identify with. This event focuses on the ongoing efforts and commitments to accelerate work in the public service to better reflect the racial diversity of Canadian society, eradicate systemic racism and find common ground to support Indigenous Peoples and equity-deserving communities across Canada.

The objectives of this event are:

  • Spotlight and celebrate the long-standing work of grassroots employee networks and communities that have been working to advance and implement anti-racism in the public service.
  • Raise awareness of Canada's Anti-Racism Strategy and the Call to Action on Anti-Racism, Equity, and Inclusion in the Federal Public Service and to impart the Clerk of the Privy Council's expectations for all leaders across the public service.
  • Highlight the work of the Federal Anti-Racism Secretariat as well as existing and emerging anti-racism secretariats across the public service.
  • Inform public servants of the actions that are actively underway in taking concrete actions towards addressing systemic racism and to uplift and empower the continued efforts of these networks and secretariats.
